Interfaith – faith and holy texts

On March 14th Holland House hosted an interfaith event which included people of 8 faith traditions talking about their Holy Scriptures, including the Dean of Worcester Cathedral, the Very Revd Dr Peter Atkinson.  Dr Atkinson read the gospel in Greek (its original language) while the Quran was read in Arabic, a Hindu text read in Sanskrit and a Pureland Buddhist sutra chanted in Japanese.

We also shared both how we physically handle holy texts, their place in our faith, and a short exposition on “welcoming the stranger”.

With a delicious Holland House vegan lunch and an excellent summary of the day by Revd Israel Selvanayagam, the event was deemed a great success by all involved.

This is the first of three annual Interfaith events held by Holland House as part of its commitment to “be in harmony with Creation”.
