|A reminder of the dates – Friday 1st – Sunday 3rd of May – and that this year the Cropthorne Walkabout will not be held over that weekend.
We are planning a truly Holland House weekend with opportunities to enjoy being together with Friends, time for quiet and reflection, to worship in our lovely chapel and wander in the garden, to be creative and to spend time in personal study, meditation and ‘retreat’ – and of course enjoy the hospitality of the House with delicious locally sourced food and drink.
“Inside Out – Outside in. “
Exploring our spirituality and our place in the world.
A weekend organised by Friends of Holland House for Friends and friends of Friends!
As well as a varied programme for Residential people, we are organising a ‘Taster day’ (10am-4pm) on the Saturday, designed for people who have never been to a Retreat or Quiet Day before. We do hope that you will all invite friends, neighbours, acquaintances to come to this day, which the Friends Committee agreed to subsidise so it should be affordable for anyone who is not sure what they are coming to!
After dinner on the Friday evening we will have a ‘getting to know you’ social activity followed by simple evening prayer at 9pm.
The Saturday Taster Day theme will be “Using all our Senses”. The morning has two sessions, a short talk with suggestions for some subsequent free (silent) time, e.g. poetry, looking at colours, listening to sounds, drawing, an awareness walk, using the labyrinth etc. There will be simple worship at 12.30, followed by lunch. The afternoon offers a variety of art and craft activities, a guided walk round the village, yoga and more……
All this is included for people booking the whole package, and we hope that you will take the opportunity to make day visitors/ newcomers welcome and put them at ease, hopefully recruiting new Friends! For those staying after tea we offer ‘Soaring Spirits’, an opportunity to share music in various ways, and after dinner there will be a film ‘Inside Out’ and discussion.
Having helped to welcome people on Saturday, you can sit back and be fed physically and spiritually on Sunday. (No rushing round serving teas!) After breakfast there will be a simple Silent Eucharist (yes, really – prepare to be surprised!) Then we have a well-known Spiritual Director and Trainer for Hereford Diocese, Nick Helm, coming to lead us in a day of teaching, talking and reflection on the theme of “Practical Spirituality” – looking at “spiritual practices that can energise and shape our living”. A tasty Sunday lunch and Holland House’s famous tea and cake at 4pm complete the weekend.
Please note that these prices are much discounted from normal prices, so no extra Friends’ discount will apply.
Please book on-line if possible.
